About Kongero:

Since their serendipitous formation in 2005 at a Nordic folk music conference, Kongero has become one of the most exciting and innovative voices in the world of folk and a cappella music. Composed of four extraordinary female vocalists—Lotta Andersson, Emma Björling, Sofia Hultqvist Kott, and Anna Wikénius—Kongero has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Their performances have earned them a reputation for their ability to captivate audiences with their extraordinary vocal polyphony, expressive harmonies, and infectious rhythms.

Kongero’s unique genre, Swedish Folk’appella, blends traditional Swedish folk songs with fresh, modern a cappella arrangements. The group’s performances take audiences on a musical journey that spans moving love ballads, dramatic medieval tales, playful ditties, and lively dances. Their mastery of vocal technique and storytelling has earned them critical acclaim and a dedicated following worldwide. Kongero’s most recent album, Live in Longueuil, released in 2021, has been met with rave reviews.

Caleb Klauder and Reeb Willms are known to roots music fans across the globe for their soulful harmonies, driving dance tunes, classic original songs, and commitment to the raw truth of rural American music. They live in the San Juan Islands of Washington, though until recently, home was Portland, OR. They are foundational to the exceptional old-time and country music scene in the Pacific NW with the Caleb Klauder Reeb Willms Country Band and their membership in the Foghorn Stringband, of which Caleb was a founding member. Charismatic performers, they bring their unique set of talents to the stage with an eye towards good times and an ear towards the deepest songs and tunes.

Their repertoire is made up of original songs and tunes as well as gems from American roots repertoires, and the music they make is Americana in the truest sense of the word. Trading vocals back and forth, they complement each other strikingly well in an attractive meld of honky-tonk that brushes shoulders with trad bluegrass. Music is clearly in their blood. Caleb and Reeb’s originals and interpretations of songs have been covered and recorded by many performers and their musical presence reaches into a diverse and loyal fanbase, giving creedance to the impact that this duo has on their listeners. Their fans exude admiration for the timeless sound that these two produce, capturing the essence of American roots music.

Golden Shoals is a fiddle and guitar duo with a “rousing old-time-style music that’s fueled by acerbic modern-day wit” (No Depression Magazine). They are no strangers to traditional music, having placed in contests including Clifftop (3rd place 2023, 4th place 2022), Mount Airy, The Grand Masters Fiddlers Championship and Galax. Often switching instruments between fiddle, two guitars, and banjo, their original songs have been compared to Gillian Welch, with the added edge of instrumental prowess informed by energetic old time and bluegrass recordings.

Initially brought together by a mutual love of American folk music, Golden Shoals’ sound has expanded to include country, Americana, Indie and Experimental influences, allowing them to move more freely beyond genre boundaries with their songwriting while still emanating a deep understanding of Old-Time and Bluegrass music. Ever inspired by the enduring spirit of traditional Appalachian mountain music, their songwriting comes across as simple, honest, and fresh to the ears. The listener can expect the polished technique of conservatory training, in tandem with the grit, drive, and soul of musicians like Roscoe Holcomb or Ola Belle Reed.
