2020 Young Composers Competition and Festival
Bagaduce Music announces that the 24th Annual Young
Composers Competition is now open to all Maine students in grades
K-12. Students are encouraged to submit their original musical
compositions for judging by three professional musicians, and monetary
awards will be given in the following categories: Category (Ages 13 and
Younger) and Category II (Ages 14 and Older). Entries to the Young Composers Competition must be received by Friday, January 31, 2020.
The 24th Annual Young Composers Festival will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Congregational Church in Blue Hill, Maine. Young composers and their families, along with music teachers are welcome to attend this celebration event. Prizes will be awarded at the festival, and participants will be invited to perform their original compositions before a live audience. The festival will begin at 10 am, will conclude at 1 pm, and lunch will be provided. At the conclusion of the festival, a Composition Workshop will be held at 1:30 pm. Students are invited to stay and gain tips and insights about creating, scoring and editing a composition.
Bagaduce Music is excited to announce that the guest speaker for the 2020 Young Composers Festival will be renowned music educator and conductor, Michael Butterman. Maestro Butterman currently serves as the Music Director for the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra and the Pennsylvania Philharmonic.
